About Minerva

The Minerva Foundation for BC Women is a non-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring and empowering women and girls to reach their full potential. To do this, we create opportunities in the way of grants, awards and programs in the areas of education, leadership development, economic security and safety. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped more than 1500 women and girls throughout BC make amazing, lasting life changes.

Minerva creates these opportunities for women and girls in BC through:

Partnering with business, government, service organizations, public institutions and individuals
Programs and educational awards that help women to develop to their full potential
Grants to other community groups that fulfill our pillars, vision and purpose

How do we do it? The positive impact we have achieved has been possible as a result of the generous support of our supporters and volunteers. Our goal is to build a sustaining endowment fund to ensure a steady stream of independent funding for initiatives that will continue to change lives and build communities throughout BC.

Minerva currently has three branches: Vancouver, Victoria and Prince George to serve women and girls in regions and communities throughout BC.

Our Brand Story

It is said that both Neptune and Minerva competed for the rights to the City of Athens. It was determined that whoever devised the gift most useful to mortals would be granted the city as their own. Neptune created the horse and Minerva created the olive Minerva’s gift won the city. Minerva’s useful gift of the olive offered an ongoing source of food, work and a sustainable, healthy life for the community.

We have incorporated the olive leaf into our new brand identity as it is a symbol of our work – work that permanently changes lives and creates community.
