Grants Awarded
The Minerva Foundation provides grants to non-profit organizations whose services fit within our mandate of education, economic security, leadership development, and safety.
Recipients of our Community Grants are based on a close examination of programs, annual budgets, program delivery, target audience and a number of other criteria as established by the Special Projects Selection Committee.
2008 Community Grants:
Central Okanagan Elizabeth Fry Society $5,000
Project Title: Reclaiming Group – Expressive Therapy for Women who have experienced sexual violence
Green Thumb Theatre: $5,000
Project Title: Blind Spot – Dealing with the issue of date rape, this production will tour schools province-wide
Family Services of Greater Vancouver $5,000
Project Title: Domestic Violence Unit – Partnership program with the Vancouver Police Department
Northern Society for Domestic Peace $5,000
Project Title: Sixteen Steps for Discovery and Empowerment – to create healthy self-awareness, decrease the need for addictive behaviors and explore the underlying trauma and abuse
Victoria Family Violence Prevention Society $5,000
Project Title: West Shore Family Violence Collaborative – Drop-in group for women who have experienced abuse
Victoria Women’s Sexual Assault Centre $5,000
Project Title: Skills for Healing Group for Women – 4 session psycho-educational for female survivors of sexual violence
